Getcha Ears on with Mickey’s Mix Magic

Have you heard of the new fireworks show that’s playing at the Disneyland Resort? Mickey’s Mix Magic is Disneyland’s newest night time spectacle! This show is a part of Mickey and Minnie’s 90th birthday celebration at the resort, featuring classic characters and tunes with a modern twist.

According to Disneyland’s website, the high-energy show features “kaleidoscopic” projections, lights, and lasers to pump up Guests and have them moving and dancing. Scenes are projected onto the shops on Main Street, U.S.A., along the water on the Rivers of America in Frontierland, and on the “it’s a small world” façade in Fantasyland.

Guests are encouraged to get up and dance – it is a celebration, after all! Songs are remixed by DJ Mickey to bring an upbeat and carefree party. Some of the songs include, “I Wanna Be Like You,” “Ev’rybody Wants To Be A Cat,” “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” and “Un Poco Loco.” The show also features a new song written to celebrate Mickey and Minnie’s birthday titled “It’s a Good Time.”

Fireworks only happen on select nights. Be sure to check the official Disneyland Resort App or the Entertainment Schedule to see fireworks and show times.

Tips & Tricks

After seeing the show during its opening week, I suggest viewing the show on Main Street, U.S.A. Not only do you get a prime view of the fireworks, but the laser projections surround you. The dancing crowd on Main Street only adds to the excitement and altogether creates a party atmosphere.

Although it could have been due to the high winds at the time, the fireworks did seem a bit short and lackluster. Did this make the show less entertaining and fun? Nope, not at all! However, if you’re expecting to see lots of fireworks, be sure to plan your next Disney trip accordingly.

My favorite part of the Mickey’s Mix Magic was the “Un Poco Loco” segment because the song played is the Spanish version! It adds such life and variety to the show. Many Guests seemed especially happy and cheered when this song started playing.

All in all, I highly recommend viewing Mickey’s Mix Magic. This short and sweet show brings so much energy and life to Main Street that everyone feels ready to dance! The songs are remixed to perfection, engaging Guests from every generation and letting them get loose and enjoy the moment.

While Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Rivers of America are under refurbishment, be sure to view the show by “it’s a small world” or on Main Street, U.S.A.
